Time For Tongoro

Beyonce penned a beautiful ode to Africa titled The Lion King: The Gift. The portfolio of work was a celebration of the Lion King movie and presented an opportunity for collaborations with some amazing artists across the continent. But not just music artists but creative artists as well. The release of the video for the single Spirit, saw Beyonce wearing pieces by the Senegalese fashion house – Tongoro

Tongoro are a 100% Made In Africa label providing clothing that offer style conscious consumers quality, variety and convenience. Their brand focuses offering playful and unique apparel. By sourcing their materials on the continent and working with local tailors, the long-term goal is to contribute to the development of the retail production in Western Africa.

This has not been the first time Beyonce has been seen sporting fashion from African designers – Kisua, Yhebe, Zinzi, Selly Raby Kane are just a few of the brands she has been seen wearing. Her stylist Zerina Akers has been an avid supporter of fashion from the continent. Further emphasising the important role stylists have in regards to exploring new brands and introducing their clients to niche creative brands.
